Lou Melocchi, Ph.D.
Professor: Financial Management I & Financial Management II
Lou Melocchi is a senior financial leader with over 20 years of
experience in corporate and divisional finance roles at both Fortune
150 companies and mid-market high growth companies. His technical
expertise lies in FP&A, IT, and Six Sigma.
Professionally, Lou spent about half of his career in manufacturing
with two large manufacturing conglomerates, Alcoa and Honeywell
International, in a variety of information technology and
financial/operations analysis roles. The other half of his career has
been spent in services industries—largely education and healthcare, in
a number of finance, analytical, and teaching roles.
Lou
prides himself on having a polymodal educational background, and
believes that “there are no uninteresting topics...only uninterested
people.” He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Accounting
from Saint Vincent College, a Master’s degree in Public Policy and
Management and Industrial Administration from Carnegie Mellon
University, and a Doctorate in Marketing from Argosy University.
His dissertation was on the use and adoption of iPads in
post-secondary education to promote a new innovative model aimed at
improving student academic success and college value. The research
provided an empirical analysis on the relationship between instructor
iPad adoption in classroom learning activities and instructor beliefs
on whether such adoption could help improve student retention. Lou’s
professional certifications include: Certified Management Accountant
(CMA), Six Sigma Black Belt (SSB), and various Project Management
certifications (CPM/PMP).
