Colette grew up in Washington, DC. She earned her undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and her J.D. from the Washington College of Law at American University. Upon graduation from law school, she clerked several years for District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Rhonda Reid Winston. Prior to joining the Legal Affairs Department of the Maryland Association of REALTORS® in January of 2006, she worked for several law firms in the DC Metropolitan area.

In her current position, her responsibilities include teaching courses such as Ethics, Contracts, Agency, and Legal and Legislative Update. She also designs and facilitates professional standards training.
