Program/Concentration: Jack Welch MBA

TELL US ABOUT YOUR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AT SK Group.

As an administrative assistant at SK Group, I directly assist the senior director and President of the group. I am also in charge of accounting duties.

Why were you looking to get an MBA?

I was looking to get an MBA originally to further my resume, but the curriculum helped to shape my dream of having my own business in the future.

HOW HAS THE JWMI CURRICULUM HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER?

The JWMI curriculum helped me foresee what I would have to bring to the table in my current position to manage a future business of my own one day.

DID YOU FIND THE CURRICULUM WAS IMMEDIATELY APPLICABLE? PLEASE EXPLAIN.

When I started my JWMI journey when I was a Shift Supervisor at an urgent care center, I used the lessons from my People Management course to earn a promotion to Assistant Manager. I credit the skills I gained at JWMI for that promotion.

Looking back at what you thought about an online program when you first embarked, what was your overall impression now? Did it meet your expectations via DQ boards, EOP videos, faculty, etc.?

As someone who was only familiar with in-person classes, I was unsure of how to study in an online program. JWMI’s flexibility was a great benefit; I managed my own schedule in finishing my discussion questions (DQs) and course assignments while working. Anyone who has reservations about an online program will be very pleased. The JWMI program exceeded my expectations via DQ boards, EOP videos, and faculty. I learned so much.

What’s been your most rewarding experience in the program?

My most rewarding experience in the program was learning the CEO-mindset. Learning through Jack’s personal experiences and from other Experts of Practice, I could quickly adapt my strategic skills to this CEO process. The courses continually challenged me to retool my approach and think more critically and strategically.

How did you navigate school, family, and work? What strategies did you implement to get it done?

I navigated family and work through forming a weekly structure. We learn a lot about system designs and processes throughout the JWMI curriculum, which I was already utilizing in my daily life. Having a set structure and keeping a daily schedule keeps your life and finances in control.

Please share any advice for new students embarking on the MBA journey.

As a new student embarking on the MBA journey, keep your mind open as you will be introduced to a whole other world. It is a fantastic journey that will allow you to hone your skills as a future leader or CEO of a company. Good Luck!
