It’s the season of gratitude. Which is why we couldn’t resist sharing more posts from JWMI students and alumni who explain what and who they are thankful for this Thanksgiving.
If you missed Part 1 of this gratitude series, we invite you to check it out. And let’s not stop here, because gratitude and saying “Thank You” should be something we remember to do daily—at home, at work, in school, and when out in the world.
So, what are YOU grateful for? Tell us in the comments below.
JWMI Students and Alumni Share What They are Thankful for this Thanksgiving:
I am thankful for the incredible education, network, and confidence that my JWMI MBA experience continues to provide well after graduation. 2017 was a year of continued learning and growth as two JWMI grads, an incredible business partner, and an award-winning team launched our company 1Source Events. I am incredibly thankful for my team that truly believes in our mission, celebrates the wins, sees every moment as a learning opportunity, and lives and breathes Welch Way principles every single day. I am thankful for their dedication, resilience, challenging questions, and drive to over deliver in all that they do. I am also so thankful for our incredible customers and business partners supporting our small business as key stakeholders to its success.
My thanks are significant and multi-generational. To my Grandma Marion who as an educator always believed in a lifetime of learning. To George, my father, who has shown the path to continuous learning and provided guidance throughout my journey. To Susan, my wife, who had patience with my commitments as president and member of the Student Advisory Board which often included live events, not to mention the late nights writing papers and discussion questions. To my children, who helped proofread my papers and like me have struggled with balancing life and school and who provided terrific tips and tricks for managing it all. And finally to JWMI, for having exceptional faculty, staff, and students which made the process even more enjoyable.
I’m thankful that I have taken this journey to pursue my MBA. This journey hasn’t been easy but it’s been worth it. What makes it worth it are my kids knowing I’m doing something to better our future. I’m thankful for my professor Jamie Chesler; for 2 terms now, I have taken my courses with her, and she’s been an angel, I’ve learned so much. I’m also extremely thankful for family and friends who have supported me.
I am thankful to my mother, Claudia Henderson who made education a priority. I was the first in my family to attend a four college. When I obtained my Bachelors degree I encouraged her to go back to school. She went back to school plowing her way through from an Associates Degree and surpassing me to earn a Masters Degree. I am thankful for my fiance who works hard, cooks and cleans while I’m on this journey. I am for my oldest daughter who tends the grandchildren while I study and do homework. I am thankful for the staff at JWMI who candid, supportive, and great motivators. I am thankful to my employer for arranging my work schedule around my personal schedule.
And finally, we close with a “Thank YOU” from the JWMI faculty and staff. We are so incredibly grateful to all of our students and alumni for providing us with an opportunity to continue to innovate and change the world one leader at a time. To quote Jack: “It’s the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen [to hear graduates share their promotion stories as they walk across the stage at graduation.]” We are very thankful for those that have remained open to experiencing the program and who have worked to put it in action within their careers. We wish you and your families a very Happy Thanksgiving.
