JWMI’s First International Student Event

Who says an online MBA program doesn’t afford students and alumni with the opportunity to connect in-person?

Bucking the conventional stereotype—Jack Welch Management Institute hosted its first international student event in Dubai last week. Observing Ramadan, JWMI guests were treated, after sunset, to a traditional iftar dinner at the Cavendish in Bonnington Jumeirah Lakes Towers.

The group which included current students, prospective students, and alumni, all who hold senior positions at companies included Oracle, Etihad, ADCO, Bukhatir group, and Broadradio, ate together and discussed meaningful moments from their MBA journey. Suggestions for how to achieve success in the program were shared with the prospective students who joined the event.

But in true JWMI fashion, guests celebrated winning achievements attributed to their practical application of coursework as well. Hobbies and interests were also communicated as classmates and contemporaries got to know each other on a more personal level.

Fareed Raja, JWMI’s Digital Channel Manager and host for the evening, left with optimism and excitement around the program’s potential for growth in the region. “I was excited to provide an opportunity for all these students and alumni to connect; our first international student event was memorable and I look forward to hosting future ones in the months ahead,” said Raja. The group agreed, all look forward to future events in Dubai and growing their local community.
