TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOUR CAREER.
I’m a professional pilot for FedEx Express. I manage people and equipment, ensuring safe and legal air travel of precious cargo in challenging international environments on the back-side of the clock.
HOW HAS THE JWMI CURRICULUM HELPED YOU IN YOUR CAREER?
JWMI has given me a well-rounded MBA experience with a depth of tools and skills to draw upon. The experience becomes more valuable with each extra ounce of effort you pour into the program. During my tenure at JWMI, I transitioned from a “stepping-stone” airline to a career with the airline of my dreams. When applying for your dream job, you want an edge to help you stand out from the competition. JWMI was that edge.
WHY WERE YOU LOOKING TO GET AN MBA?
I wanted to increase my knowledge base so I could better understand the management decisions within my company. I also wanted skills that could help aid me in the future, should I decide to create a side-business.
WHAT’S BEEN YOUR MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCE IN THE PROGRAM?
I found two of the final classes in the curriculum the most rewarding. New Business Ventures allowed me to hash out the practicality of a new business idea and apply course learnings to building a business plan. Also, the final Capstone project tied the whole program and its learnings together in a fun and engaging way.
PLEASE SHARE ANY ADVICE FOR NEW STUDENTS EMBARKING ON THE MBA JOURNEY.
The more time and effort you put into the course, the more valuable and rewarding the experience. Don’t get behind because the program builds on itself. If you can focus on the same company or similar companies throughout the program, this will help in making more profound and more effective supporting arguments in later courses.
