Suzy Welch, Co-founder
Suzy Welch is a noted business journalist, TV commentator, and public speaker. A popular Today Show and CNBC contributor, Suzy is the author of the New York Times bestseller 10-10-10: A Life Transforming Idea, a guide to values-driven decision making. With her husband, Jack Welch, Suzy founded the Jack Welch Management Institute, ranked as one of the top online MBA programs in the world by Princeton Review and CEO Magazine. Along with Jack, she is also the author of the international best-sellers, The Real Life MBA and Winning. Suzy and Jack Welch have also written business columns for several publications, including Business Week, the New York Times Syndicate, and Fortune magazine. All proceeds from the Welches’ books are donated to charity.
For the past three decades, Suzy has written extensively about leadership, career management, and other organizational issues, for publications ranging from O, The Oprah Magazine to The Wall Street Journal. Also, her candid and perceptive commentary can also be heard regularly on Power Lunch, and CNBC.com programs, "Get to Work, with Suzy Welch" and "Suzy Welch: Fix My Career."
Born in Portland, Oregon, Suzy received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1981 before joining The Miami Herald as a reporter. She left daily journalism to attend Harvard Business School, where she graduated as a Baker Scholar in 1988. After working as a management consultant at Bain & Co. for several years, Suzy joined the Harvard Business Review in 1995 and was named editor-in-chief in 2001. Suzy is the mother of four children, and as a tireless advocate for universal compassion, she currently serves on the board of several animal rights organizations.
Dean Sippel, CEO
As the Jack Welch Management Institute’s strategic business and operations leader, Dean Sippel has transformed JWMI into one of the fastest-growing and most innovative business education programs in the world, growing its student population over 30% a year since inception, to more than 5,000 students, alumni and certificate participants.
Dean draws on deep operations experience that spans several industries. Since he joined Strayer University in 2008, he has led various operating divisions, including University Admissions, University Development, and on-site programs for Fortune 100 companies. Before Strayer, Dean was a co-founder of Kaplan Virtual Education; one of the nation’s largest regionally accredited online high school providers.
Beyond his tenure in education, Dean has served as Division CFO at a publicly traded healthcare services company and has held operating, marketing and M&A positions at a former Fortune 500 oil refining company in the Midwest. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Westminster College (MO) and an MBA from Saint Louis University.
Mike Zeliff, Dean of Faculty and Students
Mike Zeliff leads the process to attract, train, develop, mentor, support, assess, and retain a world-class faculty, focused on teaching excellence. He is responsible for assessing student learning outcomes, improving retention and graduation rates, scheduling faculty and courses, and resolving faculty and student concerns.
Before joining JWMI, Mike served as adjunct professor of Marketing at George Washington University, Chief Strategy Officer at JWT Inside, Senior Researcher at TNS Employee Insights, and Chief Marketing Officer for the United States Marine Corps. Mike holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from George Washington University.
Mary Carr, Dean of Curriculum and Content
Mary Carr is driven by a single, laser-focused mission: to deliver the Jack Welch Management Institute as the gold standard for graduate business education, ensuring that all of its programs provide a practical student learning experience. She leads curriculum design, content development, and technology for JWMI.
Before her role at JWMI, Mary served as dean of the College of Business at Strayer University. Mary also has more than a decade experience as general counsel in the healthcare industry. Mary holds a J.D. with a certificate in Health Law Studies from the St. Louis University School of Law and a B.A. in English from Boston College.
Meghan Rodgers, Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer, Meghan Rodgers oversees the growth and brand development for the Jack Welch Management Institute. She previously served as Vice President of Operations where she led JWMI’s retention and student services efforts and was responsible for a variety of other strategic and business development initiatives.
Prior to JWMI, Meghan held several roles at Strayer University spanning admissions, operations, new business development, and strategic partnerships. Beyond her tenure in education, Meghan served as the Vice President of Finance and Business Development for the Scripps Networks, with a focus on strategy development, digital partnerships, and acquisition integration.
Meghan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miami University (OH).
