Meet Suzy

Suzy Welch, Co-founder

Suzy Welch is a noted business journalist, TV commentator, and public speaker, as well as entrepreneur, board member, and organizational leader. A popular Today Show contributor, and the host of CNBC’s top-rated “Get to Work” online series, Suzy is the author of the New York Times best-seller 10-10-10: A Life Transforming Idea. With her husband, Jack Welch, Suzy founded the Jack Welch Management Institute, ranked as one of the top online MBA programs in the world by Princeton Review and CEO Magazine. Along with Jack, she is also the author of the international best-sellers, The Real Life MBA and Winning.

For the past three decades, Suzy has written extensively about leadership, career management, and other organizational issues, for publications ranging from O, The Oprah Magazine to The Wall Street Journal. In recent years, her energies have shifted to leading businesses, primarily as the Chair of Quadio, a music streaming/social media startup based in New York, and to activist investing in the sustainable food space.

Born in Portland, Oregon, Suzy received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University in 1981 before joining The Miami Herald as a reporter. She left daily journalism to attend Harvard Business School, where she graduated as a Baker Scholar in 1988. After working as a management consultant at Bain & Co. for several years, Suzy joined the Harvard Business Review in 1995 and was named editor-in-chief in 2001. Suzy is the mother of four children, and serves on the board of several animal rights organizations.

Meet Dean

Dean Sippel, CEO

As the Jack Welch Management Institute’s strategic business and operations leader, Dean Sippel has transformed JWMI into one of the fastest-growing and most innovative business education programs in the world, growing its population to over 5,000 students, alumni and certificate participants.

Dean draws on deep operations experience that spans several industries. Since he joined Strayer University in 2008, he has led various operating divisions, including University Admissions, University Development, and on-site programs for Fortune 100 companies. Before Strayer, Dean was a co-founder of Kaplan Virtual Education; one of the nation’s largest regionally accredited online high school providers.

Beyond his tenure in education, Dean has served as Division CFO at a publicly traded healthcare services company and has held operating, marketing and M&A positions at a former Fortune 500 oil refining company in the Midwest. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Westminster College (MO) and an MBA from Saint Louis University.

Meet Mary

Mary Carr, Dean

As Dean of the Jack Welch Management Institute, Mary is driven by a single, laser-focused mission: to deliver the school as the gold standard for business education, ensuring that all its programs and faculty provide a world-class student learning and service experience. She leads the Faculty, Curriculum, and Advising teams and is responsible overseeing all academic and student matters.

Prior to her role as Dean at JWMI, Mary served as Dean of the College of Business, Dean of Corporate Education, Senior Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs and Onsite Programs at Strayer University. In these roles, she provided both operational and academic leadership across Strayer’s undergraduate and graduate programs. Previously, Mary was a practicing attorney in Boston, focusing on civil litigation, and has more than a decade of corporate legal experience in the healthcare industry. At Medical Staffing Network, a national leader in healthcare staffing services, Mary served as General Counsel and was a member of the senior executive team for ten years.

Mary holds a Juris Doctorate with a certificate in Health Law Studies from the St. Louis University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Boston College.

Meet Meghan

Meghan Rodgers, Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Meghan Rodgers oversees the growth and brand development for the Jack Welch Management Institute. She previously served as Vice President of Operations where she led JWMI’s retention and student services efforts and was responsible for a variety of other strategic and business development initiatives.

Prior to JWMI, Meghan held several roles at Strayer University spanning admissions, operations, new business development, and strategic partnerships. Beyond her tenure in education, Meghan served as the Vice President of Finance and Business Development for the Scripps Networks, with a focus on strategy development, digital partnerships, and acquisition integration.

Meghan holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Miami University (OH).
